Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Design

The new ID. Tiguan gets a completely redesigned exterior with a stronger and more upright SUV appearance. Volkswagen says the design gives the electric SUV the visual presence of a vehicle from the next segment. The front features slim LED lighting elements and a clean, closed-off appearance typical of an EV. The SUV also gets sharply sculpted surfaces and a wide stance.

The new design follows Volkswagen’s Pure Positive design language. The ID. Tiguan will also be available with large alloy wheels, while the overall shape focuses on improved road presence and aerodynamic efficiency. Volkswagen has moved away from the softer crossover styling of its earlier electric SUVs and given the ID. Tiguan a more traditional SUV character.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Powertrain and Range

Volkswagen will offer the ID. Tiguan with three powertrain configurations. The entry-level version uses a 58kWh battery and a rear-mounted electric motor producing 190PS. The next version gets a 77kWh battery and produces 286PS through its rear-mounted motor.

The range-topping model also uses the 77kWh battery but adds a second motor and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. It produces 299PS. Depending on the battery and powertrain, the ID. Tiguan can deliver up to 600km of WLTP range. Volkswagen also claims a maximum towing capacity of 2,000kg.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Cabin and Features

The cabin gets a major technology upgrade over Volkswagen’s earlier electric SUVs. The ID. Tiguan will offer a new cockpit layout with improved materials and a more premium feel. One of the biggest additions is an optional 12-inch passenger display, marking the first time Volkswagen has offered such a feature in a European model.

The SUV will seat five people and offer up to 534 litres of boot space, along with a 32-litre front storage compartment. Other available features include ventilated and massage front seats, a Harman Kardon sound system and new driver-assistance technologies. Volkswagen will also offer one-pedal driving and Connected Travel Assist with traffic-light recognition.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Launch and India

Volkswagen plans to start selling the new ID. Tiguan in early 2027, with production taking place in Germany. The SUV will be offered alongside the combustion and hybrid-powered Tiguan. Volkswagen has not yet announced an India launch date or price for the ID. Tiguan. If launched in India, it would become one of the brand’s important premium electric SUV offerings.
