Upcoming Kawasaki KLE650 Teased: What We Know So Far
Kawasaki appears to be preparing a larger adventure motorcycle following the revival of the KLE name with the KLE500. A new teaser video from Kawasaki UK has offered the first glimpse of a motorcycle that could be called the KLE650.
An Australian type-approval listing has also mentioned the KLE 650 (SE), adding weight to these reports. The teaser reveals a green tubular trellis frame, redesigned engine casing and dual front disc brakes.
However, Kawasaki has not officially confirmed the motorcycle’s name, engine specifications or launch date. The new model could expand the brand’s adventure motorcycle range for 2027.
Upcoming Kawasaki KLE650: Design and Hardware
The teaser video reveals several details that distinguish the upcoming motorcycle from the KLE500. It features a metallic green tubular trellis frame, similar in appearance to the smaller adventure bike.
The crash bars, indicators and auxiliary lights also appear similar to those on the KLE500. However, the engine casing on the right side looks different, while the clutch cover sits closer to the frame. The most noticeable change is the twin-disc front braking setup. The KLE500 uses a single front disc, while the teased motorcycle features two discs.
This setup could suit a larger, heavier or more powerful adventure motorcycle, although Kawasaki has not confirmed its final specifications.
Upcoming Kawasaki KLE650: Expected Engine and Performance
Kawasaki has not revealed the engine specifications of the motorcycle shown in the teaser. However, the 649cc parallel-twin engine used in the Ninja 650 and Versys 650 could be a potential option for the new adventure bike.
The engine produces around 67hp in the Versys 650, although Kawasaki has not confirmed whether the new model will use this powertrain or deliver similar output. The different engine casing visible in the teaser also leaves room for other possibilities.
The twin front discs suggest a different hardware package from the KLE500, but riders will have to wait for an official announcement to learn about its performance, suspension and off-road capabilities.
Upcoming Kawasaki KLE650: Expected Launch and Rivals
Kawasaki has not announced the KLE650’s launch date or price. The motorcycle could make its public debut at EICMA 2026, although the company has not confirmed this.
If launched with a more off-road-focused setup, it could compete with adventure bikes such as the Yamaha Ténéré 700 and Honda XL750 Transalp in international markets. India launch details remain unknown.
