New Yamaha MT-125 Facelift Debuts: Will the MT-15 Get the Same Design?
Yamaha has revealed the updated Yamaha MT-125 for the 2027 model year with a sharper design and revised bodywork. The facelift brings the small streetfighter closer to Yamaha’s larger MT-07 and MT-09 models.
The changes mainly focus on styling, while the mechanical package remains largely unchanged. The updated MT-125 gets a new fuel tank, revised side panels, sharper LED lighting and a redesigned seat.
It also continues with a 125cc engine using Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation technology. The new design could also preview future styling changes for the Yamaha MT-15 in some markets, although Yamaha has not confirmed an MT-15 facelift yet.

Yamaha MT-125 Facelift: Design
The 2027 Yamaha MT-125 gets a completely revised look inspired by the larger MT models. It features a redesigned fuel tank with a slimmer shape and new side panels with textured sections.
The motorcycle also gets a dark smoked front panel and sharper LED lighting. The front-end design now looks closer to the MT-07 and MT-09. Yamaha has also redesigned the seat for improved comfort and changed the position of the LED indicators.
A new Redline White colour joins Ice Storm, Icon Blue and Tech Black. Updated graphics and a new 125 logo further distinguish the facelifted model. The overall design gives the MT-125 a more aggressive streetfighter appearance.
Yamaha MT-125 Facelift: Powertrain, Mileage and Top Speed
The Yamaha MT-125 facelift continues with a 125cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The engine produces 15PS at 10,000rpm and 11.5Nm at 8,000rpm, with a six-speed gearbox.
Yamaha has not made major mechanical changes for the facelift. The company lists fuel consumption at 2.0 litres per 100km, which works out to around 50kmpl.
Yamaha has not officially announced a top-speed figure for the updated model. The previous MT-125 could reach around 120kmph, but the exact top speed of the 2027 version should be confirmed after its market launch.

Yamaha MT-125 Facelift: Suspension and Braking
The updated Yamaha MT-125 retains its Deltabox-style frame, aluminium swingarm and 41mm upside-down front forks. The front suspension offers 130mm of travel, while the rear uses a swingarm-mounted suspension setup.
The motorcycle rides on a wide 140-section rear tyre. Braking duties come from a large 292mm front disc with a radial-mount caliper. Yamaha also offers traction control on the new model.
The MT-125 gets an assist-and-slipper clutch, which makes gear changes easier and helps control the rear wheel during aggressive downshifts. These components remain focused on giving the lightweight motorcycle stable handling and confident braking.
