Maruti Dzire Crosses 3.5 Million Units as Sales and Production Reach New Heights
Maruti Suzuki has officially achieved a significant manufacturing milestone as cumulative production of the Maruti Dzire crossed the 3.5 million unit mark. First introduced to the Indian market in January 2008, the compact sedan has completed a production journey spanning approximately 18 years and nine months.
This milestone underscores the enduring popularity of the Maruti Dzire 35 lakh production achievement among Indian car buyers, cementing its status as one of the country’s most successful passenger vehicles.
Production Journey and Accelerating Pace
The manufacturing journey of the Maruti Dzire 35 lakh units reflects consistent market demand across four distinct generations. Production growth has accelerated notably over the years.
The sedan crossed its 10 lakh production milestone in April 2015, followed by the 20 lakh mark in June 2019. It then touched 30 lakh units in December 2024 before reaching the latest Dzire production milestone of 3.5 million units. Industry data highlights that the latest million units were produced at a significantly faster pace, driven by robust domestic demand and consistent export orders.
Sales Performance and Market Standing
Beyond its manufacturing achievements, the Maruti Dzire sales figures continue to lead the domestic passenger vehicle segment. During the first half of fiscal year 2027 (H1 FY2027), covering April to September 2026, the sedan recorded domestic sales of 1,25,988 units, showing solid year-on-year growth compared to the corresponding period last year.
This performance placed the compact sedan ahead of popular rivals like the Tata Punch and the Maruti Suzuki WagonR during the same timeframe. Its widespread appeal spans both private family buyers and commercial fleet operators looking for dependable, everyday transportation.
