Upcoming Tata Safari EV Could Offer 600km Range, AWD and More: What to Expect
Tata Motors is preparing to expand its electric SUV portfolio with the upcoming Tata Safari EV. The new electric SUV is expected to become the brand’s first fully electric seven-seater, targeting buyers who want a spacious family vehicle with a long driving range.
The Safari EV could borrow battery and motor technology from the Harrier EV and offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. Its larger battery pack could deliver a claimed range of around 600km on a single charge. Tata is also expected to introduce several EV-specific design changes and premium cabin features.
However, the company has not confirmed its launch date or final specifications.

Tata Safari EV: Design
The Tata Safari EV is expected to retain the familiar upright and boxy silhouette of the existing Safari while receiving several EV-specific design changes. The front section could feature a closed-off grille, revised bumper and distinctive LED lighting elements. Tata may also introduce redesigned alloy wheels with an aerodynamic profile to improve efficiency.
The rear could receive updated LED tail lamps and revised bumper detailing. The electric version is expected to maintain the three-row seating layout, making it a practical option for larger families.
Its overall design could closely follow Tata’s latest electric SUV styling, as seen on the Harrier EV and Sierra EV. The final exterior details remain unconfirmed.
Tata Safari EV: Powertrain and Range
The upcoming Tata Safari EV could use battery and motor technology from the Harrier EV. Tata may offer 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options, with the larger battery potentially delivering a claimed range of around 600km or more.
The Harrier EV currently offers a claimed range of up to 627km with its larger battery, depending on the variant. The Safari EV could also get a dual-motor AWD configuration on higher variants. This setup would use electric motors on both axles to provide power to all four wheels.
However, Tata has not revealed the Safari EV’s motor output, battery capacity, charging speed or certified driving range.
Cabin and Features
The Tata Safari EV is expected to offer a premium three-row cabin with space for up to seven occupants. It could borrow several technology and comfort features from the Harrier EV and Sierra EV. Expected highlights include a triple-screen dashboard, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a passenger-side display.
Higher variants could also offer ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and a premium audio system. Tata may include Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and multiple drive modes. The AWD version could receive dedicated terrain modes for different driving conditions.
However, Tata has not confirmed the final equipment list.

Tata Safari EV: Expected Price and Rivals
Tata Motors has not announced the Safari EV’s price. Its larger size and three-row layout could place it above the Harrier EV. The electric SUV is expected to compete with premium family EVs, including the Kia EV9, while also attracting buyers considering the Mahindra XEV 9e and other large electric SUVs.
