Volkswagen Golf GTI Launched in India at ₹53 Lakh: New Hot Hatchback with German Precision

In a thrilling move for car enthusiasts across the country, Volkswagen India has officially launched the globally celebrated Volkswagen Golf GTI in the Indian market. Priced at ₹53 lakh (ex-showroom), the eighth-generation Golf GTI Mk8.5 enters as a fully imported CBU (Completely Built Unit) and instantly becomes one of the most premium hot hatchbacks on Indian roads.

The car is being introduced in a limited-run model with only 150 units, and in a testament to its popularity, the entire batch is already sold out. Volkswagen is evaluating the possibility of importing an additional 100 units in the coming months based on customer demand.

The GTI wears a sporty suit that commands attention without being flashy. The updated design gets Matrix LED Headlamps with connected LED DRL bar, X-shaped LED fog lamps on the front bumper, Illuminated VW logo, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with red brake calipers and Signature GTI badging on the grille, tailgate, and front fenders.

The hatchback is offered in four striking color options Grenadilla Black, Moonstone Grey, Kings Red and Oryx White.

Volkswagen Golf GTI: Powertrain

At the heart of the Golf GTI lies a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, delivering a strong 265 hp and 370 Nm of torque. This power is channeled through a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) gearbox, powering the front wheels, as per GTI tradition.

Talking about the performance it can  achieve speed of 0-100 km/h in Just 5.9 seconds and its Top Speed will be around 250 km/h

This car is a Front-wheel drive with electronic limited-slip differential and Tuned for agile handling and high-speed stability

Whether on city roads or open highways, the Golf GTI promises a spirited, razor-sharp driving experience that sets your pulse racing.

Volkswagen has blended performance aesthetics with modern comfort features, including: 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment with integrated ChatGPT voice assistant, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit with GTI-specific graphics, Sports seats with signature GTI plaid stitching and red accents, Leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, Panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control, and ambient lighting

It also has a Wireless charging pad and heated front seats. The cabin exudes a premium feel with a driver-centric layout, reinforcing the GTI’s performance-first philosophy.

The Golf GTI isn’t just about speed—it’s also equipped with cutting-edge safety and driver assistance features to ensure peace of mind, such as: 7 airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Level 2 ADAS features, including: Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Change Assist and Rear Traffic Alert.

In India Volkswagen Golf GTI has been launched at Ex-showroom Price of ₹53 lakh and will be available in Single fully-loaded variant. Company will bring this car as Completely Built Unit, and there will be 150 (first batch – sold out), second batch under review

Volkswagen has confirmed that the Golf GTI will continue to be offered in limited volumes in India to maintain exclusivity and cater to the enthusiast community.
