BYD Denza To Launch In India On November 13: D9, Z9 GT and What To Expect

BYD’s luxury electric vehicle brand Denza will make its India debut on November 13, 2026. The upcoming launch will mark BYD’s entry into a higher segment of India’s premium car market through a separate luxury brand.

Denza is expected to introduce the D9 luxury MPV and Z9 GT electric shooting brake as its first India products. Both models will arrive as completely built units initially, according to current reports.

Denza will sit above BYD’s existing passenger vehicle range and target buyers looking for premium electric vehicles with high-end technology, performance and cabin features. The company has not yet announced final India prices, booking details or the complete retail strategy.

Why Is BYD Bringing Denza To India?

Denza gives BYD a separate brand for the luxury segment instead of stretching its existing BYD badge into higher price categories. The brand started in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, while Mercedes-Benz later exited the partnership.

BYD now owns Denza completely and has positioned it as a premium brand offering luxury EVs and plug-in hybrid models in international markets. In India, Denza is expected to target the Rs. 80 lakh-plus segment, while BYD’s existing range occupies a lower price band.

The company is also expected to establish dedicated Denza retail outlets rather than selling the cars through its existing BYD network. This strategy could help create a separate luxury ownership experience for Indian customers.

Denza D9: Luxury MPV To Lead The India Entry

The D9 is expected to become Denza’s first product for India. It is a large three-row luxury MPV aimed at customers who want a chauffeur-focused cabin with premium comfort. The global-spec electric D9 uses a 103kWh battery and can offer up to 520km of WLTP range in its front-wheel-drive configuration.

The India-spec version is expected to use a front-mounted electric motor producing around 309hp and 360Nm. The cabin gets a 2+2+3 seating layout, with the second row offering powered captain’s chairs with features such as heating, ventilation and massage. The D9 could compete with the MG M9, Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM and Mercedes-Benz V-Class in India.

Denza Z9 GT: Performance EV With Over 1,000hp

The Z9 GT will give Denza a completely different identity in India. The four-door shooting brake combines a low-slung design with a high-performance electric powertrain.

The India-spec version is expected to use a 122.5kWh battery and three electric motors producing around 1,140hp. Global specifications claim a 0-100kmph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 270kmph.

The Z9 GT can also offer around 600km of WLTP range. Its advanced technology includes rear-wheel steering and ultra-fast charging capability. Reports suggest a potential India price of around Rs. 1.2 crore to Rs. 1.5 crore, although Denza has not confirmed the final figure.

Expected Price and Rivals

The Denza D9 could cost around Rs. 85 lakh to Rs. 90 lakh, while the Z9 GT could sit around Rs. 1.2 crore to Rs. 1.5 crore. The D9 will rival the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire, while the Z9 GT will occupy a more niche performance-EV space. Final prices will be announced at launch.

What Denza’s India Entry Means

Denza’s arrival will give Indian luxury-car buyers another option in the fast-growing premium EV segment. The brand will compete on technology, performance and luxury rather than volume.

The D9 could be particularly important because India’s luxury MPV segment already has established names such as the Vellfire and Lexus LM. The Z9 GT, meanwhile, could work as a technology and performance showcase for BYD’s premium EV capabilities.

However, Denza will need to build a strong retail and after-sales network to compete with established luxury manufacturers. Its initial CBU strategy will also keep prices high.
