Hyundai Motor Company Sales Report Of April 2026: Domestic Demand Softens

India’s second-largest carmaker, Hyundai Motor Company, has released its April 2026 sales performance, and the numbers reflect a mixed start to the new financial year.

While domestic demand witnessed a marginal slowdown compared to the previous month, export volumes played a crucial role in stabilising the brand’s overall performance.

In April 2026, Hyundai reported total sales of 51,820 units, combining both domestic and export figures. Out of this, 42,110 units were sold in the Indian market, while 9,710 units were exported to global markets.

The domestic figure indicates a slight decline when compared to March 2026, where the company had dispatched around 48,500 units in India.

This month-on-month drop can largely be attributed to a typical post-financial-year slowdown, as March often benefits from year-end buying momentum, dealer-level discounts, and corporate purchases.

On a year-on-year basis, Hyundai’s domestic sales also showed a modest dip compared to April 2025, when the automaker had recorded approximately 44,000 units in India.

The decline suggests intensifying competition in key segments such as compact SUVs and hatchbacks, where rivals have been aggressively expanding their portfolios with feature-rich and value-focused offerings.

However, Hyundai continues to maintain a strong foothold thanks to its balanced lineup, which includes popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Venue, and Hyundai i20.

Exports, on the other hand, showed relative stability, helping offset domestic softness. Hyundai has consistently leveraged India as a global manufacturing hub, supplying vehicles to multiple international markets.

The steady export performance in April underlines the brand’s strong overseas demand and efficient production strategy, even as domestic conditions fluctuate.

From a segment perspective, SUVs continue to dominate Hyundai’s sales mix, with the Creta remaining a volume driver in the midsize SUV category.

Meanwhile, newer updates and special editions across the lineup have helped the brand sustain customer interest, although the market is clearly becoming more price-sensitive and feature-driven than ever before.
