Mahindra BE 7 Spotted Testing on Indian Roads: Bigger Electric SUV Could Arrive in 2027

Mahindra is preparing to expand its Born Electric portfolio with the upcoming Mahindra BE 7. The premium electric SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time, giving a closer look at its production-ready design.

Although the test mule was heavily camouflaged, several important details were visible. The BE 7 is expected to be positioned above the BE 6 and will share Mahindra’s advanced INGLO electric platform.

With a larger body, premium features, and long driving range, the upcoming SUV could become one of the brand’s flagship electric models when it arrives in 2027.

Mahindra BE 7 Design

The test vehicle shows that Mahindra has retained most of the futuristic styling from the BE.07 concept. It features a sporty coupe-like roofline, flush door handles, large alloy wheels, and sharp body lines.

The front gets sleek LED lighting elements and a closed grille typical of electric vehicles. Traditional ORVMs replace the concept’s cameras, making the SUV more practical for production.

Overall, the BE 7 looks premium and modern while maintaining a strong SUV stance.

Mahindra BE 7 Powertrain

The BE 7 is expected to use Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard platform, which already underpins the BE 6 and XEV models. It is likely to offer 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options.

Rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions could also be introduced. The larger battery may deliver a driving range of over 500 km on a single charge. Fast charging capability and powerful electric motors are also expected to be part of the package.

Mahindra BE 7 Cabin

The interior has not been fully revealed yet, but expectations are high. The SUV could feature a triple-screen dashboard similar to Mahindra’s latest electric SUVs.

Premium leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, Level 2 ADAS, a premium sound system, wireless charging, and ventilated seats are also expected. Mahindra is likely to focus on offering a technology-rich cabin with excellent comfort for family buyers.

Expected Price and Rivals

Mahindra is expected to position the BE 7 in the Rs 8 lakh to Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom) price bracket. Once launched, it will compete with the Tata Harrier EV, VinFast VF 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BYD Sealion 7 in India’s premium electric SUV segment.

Its larger dimensions, advanced platform, and feature-rich package are expected to make it a strong contender.

Why This Launch Matters (The Times of Gen-Z Opinion)

The BE 7 is more than just another electric SUV. It reflects Mahindra’s long-term vision for the premium EV market in India.

Demand for spacious electric SUVs with advanced technology is growing rapidly. The BE 7 has the potential to meet those expectations with its modern design, long driving range, and premium features.

If Mahindra launches it with competitive pricing, the SUV could become a key player in India’s evolving electric vehicle market and further strengthen the company’s EV leadership.
