New Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Teased Ahead of December 2026 Launch: Design, Features and Expected Changes

Volkswagen India has released the first official teaser of the upcoming Virtus facelift ahead of its expected launch in December 2026. The new teaser provides a closer look at the updated sedan’s exterior design, including revised front and rear styling, new alloy wheels and GT-specific design elements.

The facelift will bring the first major update to the Virtus since its India launch in June 2022. The overall silhouette will remain familiar, but Volkswagen has introduced several styling changes to keep the sedan competitive in the Indian market.

The updated model is also expected to receive additional cabin features and a new automatic transmission option.

New Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Design

The Volkswagen Virtus facelift gets noticeable styling changes at the front. It retains the slim headlamp design but features revised LED daytime running lights and a redesigned front bumper. A narrow upper grille connects both headlamps and carries the Volkswagen logo along with a red GT badge.

The lower bumper gets a wider air intake with geometric detailing and redesigned outer sections. The teaser also reveals a blue exterior colour, black ORVM housings and new angular black alloy wheels. The side profile retains the familiar sloping roofline and conventional door handles.

At the rear, the sedan gets revised LED tail lamp elements, a boot-mounted lip spoiler and a redesigned lower bumper insert.

New Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Interior and Features

Volkswagen has not revealed the interior of the updated Virtus yet. However, the facelift is expected to receive several feature upgrades similar to the updated Taigun. These could include a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, refreshed upholstery and an updated infotainment system with a revised user interface.

The existing 10.1-inch touchscreen is expected to continue. Another important addition could be a 360-degree camera system, with camera units visible on the outside rear-view mirrors in recent reports. The sedan is also expected to retain features such as ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof, wireless smartphone connectivity and wireless charging.

New Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Engine and Transmission

The Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected to retain its existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines.

The smaller three-cylinder engine produces 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque, while the larger four-cylinder unit develops 150 PS and 250 Nm. Both engines currently come with different transmission options.

The 1.0-litre TSI gets a six-speed manual and six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre TSI comes with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.

However, the biggest mechanical update could be the introduction of a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic with the 1.0-litre engine, replacing the existing six-speed unit.

Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Price and Rivals

Volkswagen is expected to increase the Virtus prices following the facelift. The current model starts at Rs. 10.71 lakh and goes up to Rs. 19.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Its key rivals include the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and Honda City.
