Tata Motors, one of India’s most trusted automotive brands, reported total sales of 70,187 units in May 2025, marking an 8.6% year-on-year decline compared to the 76,210 units sold in May 2024.
The dip reflects broader industry challenges and seasonal production adjustments, though Tata continues to stay optimistic about upcoming product launches and EV expansion.

Tata domestic passenger vehicle segment, which includes popular models like Nexon, Punch, Harrier, and Safari, saw a slight dip, primarily due to supply chain adjustments and increased competition in the SUV segment.

In May 2025, Tata sold a total of 42,040 passenger vehicles, marking an 11% decline compared to the 47,075 units sold during the same month last year. Of these, 41,557 units were sold in the Indian market, while 483 units were exported.

Despite the overall drop, the company’s electric vehicle (EV) segment showed encouraging signs, with combined domestic and export sales touching 5,685 units—a 2% growth over May 2024’s figure of 5,558 units.
