Tata Motors has launched the Tata Sierra in the Indian market, and its demand is very high due to its unique design and features.

Recently, this SUV underwent a crash test with Bharat NCAP and scored a 5-star safety rating, making it one of the safest SUVs currently available for sale in the country.

As per the report, this SUV scored 31.14 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 44.73 points out of 49 in child occupant protection tests. The best part is that this rating is valid across all variants of the car.

Tata Sierra Crash Test

The Sierra performed very well in safety tests, scoring 23.73 out of 24 in dynamic performance and a perfect 12 out of 12 in the CRS (Child Restraint System) category. However, it lost 4 points in the vehicle assessment section, which brought its total child occupant protection score to 44.73 out of 49.

In the frontal crash test, the child dummy for an 18-month-old scored 7.73 out of 8, while the 3-year-old dummy achieved a full 8 out of 8. In side impact tests, both dummies secured full marks of 4 out of 4.

Breaking it down further, the car scored 15.14 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, contributing to its overall strong safety performance.

Safety Features of the Tata Sierra SUV

The Tata Sierra comes equipped with a strong set of safety features, making it one of the most secure SUVs in its segment. It is built on a robust platform and includes multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and traction control for better handling.

The SUV also offers advanced driver assistance systems like lane keep assist, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking. Features such as a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors further enhance safety.

Additionally, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a reinforced body structure ensure better protection for both adults and children inside the cabin.

Powertrain of Tata Sierra SUV

Tata Sierra offers multiple engine options to suit different driving needs. It comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The turbo petrol delivers strong performance with around 160 PS power, while the diesel focuses on torque and efficiency. In terms of mileage, the petrol variants offer around 12–15 kmpl, while the diesel can deliver up to 17–20 kmpl in real-world conditions.

The SUV has also showcased an impressive top speed of up to 222 km/h in controlled testing, highlighting its strong performance capabilities.

Price and Rival in India

The Tata Sierra is priced in the range of around Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 16–18 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and engine options. In the Indian market, it competes with popular midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Victoris and Toyota Hyryder.
