In a major step towards electrification Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially unveiled the all-new Toyota Urban Cruiser EV – a compact electric SUV that marks the brand’s serious entry into India’s fast-growing EV space.

Showcased in production-ready form, the Urban Cruiser EV is expected to launch in early 2025 and is based on the Maruti eVX platform, co-developed under the Toyota-Suzuki global alliance.

Bold & Futuristic Styling

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV boasts a sharp and aerodynamic design that stands apart from its ICE siblings.

The EV gets a closed-off front grille, sleek LED headlamps with DRLs, aggressive bumper creases, a floating roof effect, and connected LED tail-lamps – all of which give it a modern and premium appeal.

It also features EV-specific blue highlights, dual-tone paint options, and aero-optimized alloy wheels to boost efficiency.

Dimensionally, the Urban Cruiser EV is expected to measure around 4.3 metres in length, with a long wheelbase and short overhangs offering improved interior space and road presence. The ground clearance is also expected to be SUV-friendly, suitable for Indian conditions.

Powertrain, Range & Charging

Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser EV is likely to offer dual battery options, with the larger pack offering a claimed range of up to 400 km on a single charge (ARAI-certified).

The SUV will come with front-wheel-drive layout as standard, and a powerful electric motor tuned for city and highway performance.

Charging options are expected to include Standard AC charging, DC fast charging (0-80% in under 60 minutes), and Regenerative braking technology for better range optimization.
