Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno in India at an introductory price of Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated premium hatchback brings several changes aimed at making it more competitive in the segment.

The new model gets a revised powertrain, additional safety technology and more comfort features. Maruti Suzuki has also focused on improving the Baleno’s overall equipment list while retaining its familiar premium-hatchback character.

With rivals such as the Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20 continuing to offer strong feature and safety packages, the 2026 Baleno arrives with significant upgrades designed to attract buyers looking for a practical yet feature-rich premium hatchback.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Gets a Revised Engine

One of the biggest changes comes under the bonnet. The 2026 Baleno gets a 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine, replacing the outgoing 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit.

The engine is available with a five-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The company has also introduced a CNG-AMT combination, adding greater flexibility for buyers looking for lower running costs.

More Features and Safety Technology

Maruti Suzuki has upgraded the Baleno’s equipment list with several new features. The 2026 model gets Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

The previous model already offered features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, head-up display, automatic climate control and a 360-degree camera. The additional safety and convenience features make the new model more competitive.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Design Changes

The 2026 Baleno retains the familiar overall silhouette, but Maruti Suzuki has introduced styling updates to distinguish it from the previous version. The car receives revised front-end styling, updated bumpers and new alloy wheels. A new Enigmatic Teal exterior colour also joins the colour palette.

The dimensions remain largely unchanged, with the Baleno continuing to measure 3,990mm in length and featuring a 2,520mm wheelbase.

Why Is the 2026 Baleno Different?

The 2026 Baleno is not an entirely new generation. Instead, Maruti Suzuki has carried forward the existing platform and architecture while making important upgrades to the engine, safety technology, features and transmission choices.

The addition of Level 2 ADAS, a new three-cylinder petrol engine and a CNG-AMT option represents the biggest difference from the outgoing model.

With these updates, the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno aims to remain a strong contender in India’s premium hatchback segment while offering buyers more technology and powertrain choices than before.
