The upcoming Renault Kwid EV is expected to closely resemble its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, featuring a closed front grille.

Spy shots reveal Y-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a full-width LED light bar, and a muscular bumper inspired by the new-generation Duster. The rugged design elements, including squared wheel arches, body cladding, and steel wheels, suggest that there will be multiple trim levels, including budget-friendly variants.

In terms of dimensions, this EV will be similar to its ICE sibling and will share characteristics with the Renault Dacia Spring, which is already available in the global market.

2026 Renault Kwid EV: Powertrain

Renault is likely to adopt the powertrain from the Dacia Spring EV, with two motor options expected: a 33 kW variant that generates a maximum power of 44 hp, and a 48 kW variant producing a maximum power of 65 hp.

Both options will deliver 125 Nm of torque and be powered by a 26.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The anticipated range is approximately 225 km (WLTP), making it ideal for urban commuting.

Charging options will include AC home charging (estimated at 11–13 hours) and a 30 kW DC fast charging option (charging from 20% to 80% in about 45 minutes).

Inside the cabin, the Renault Kwid EV is likely to feature a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Premium touches may include USB Type-C ports, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), such as lane-keeping assist and emergency braking, although reports suggest that ADAS features will be available only on the top variant.

For safety, the vehicle is expected to come equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and hill-start assist, depending on the trim selected.

2026 Renault Kwid EV: Price and Availability

The Renault Kwid EV is expected to be launched at a starting price of Rs. 7-10 lakh (ex-showroom).

This pricing positions it as one of the most affordable EVs in India, directly competing with models like the Tata Tiago EV (starting at Rs. 7.99 lakh), MG Comet EV (starting at Rs. 7.36 lakh), and Citroen eC3 (starting at Rs. 11.99 lakh).
