3 New SUVs Coming Soon in India: Hyundai and Tata Prepare New Models

Hyundai’s New Compact Electric SUV
Hyundai is working on a new small electric SUV for India. It is expected to sit below the Creta Electric in the company’s lineup.
The new model could compete with the Tata Punch EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Hyundai is expected to focus on a practical size, modern design and good driving range.
The SUV could get a large touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, connected features and several safety systems. The company may also offer different battery options.
The bigger battery could offer a range of more than 350km, although the final figures are yet to be confirmed.
Hyundai could launch this electric SUV in India by late 2026 or during 2027.
Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors is also preparing the electric version of the Sierra. The Sierra EV will become another important model in Tata’s electric SUV lineup.
The SUV will have a strong and boxy design inspired by the Sierra nameplate. It will also get a modern cabin with premium features.
Tata could offer different battery options with the Sierra EV. The larger battery pack is expected to deliver more than 500km of claimed range.
The electric SUV could also support fast charging. Tata is expected to position it above the Nexon EV and Punch EV in its lineup.
The Sierra EV could attract buyers who want a larger electric SUV with a premium design and long driving range.
Why These SUVs Matter?
The new launches will give Indian buyers more choices in the SUV market. Hyundai will target customers looking for a compact electric SUV, while Tata will use the Sierra EV to target buyers wanting a larger electric model.
