New Hero Impulse 160 Spied Testing Ahead of Launch
Hero MotoCorp appears to be working on a new small adventure motorcycle for India. A test bike has been spotted ahead of its expected launch, bringing attention to the possibility of a new Hero Impulse 160.
The company had earlier sold the Impulse in India as an entry-level dual-sport motorcycle. The new model could bring back that idea with a modern engine and updated design.
Spy images suggest that Hero is developing the bike for both road and light off-road use. However, Hero has not yet confirmed its name, engine specifications or launch date.
Hero Impulse 160: What’s New?
The new Hero adventure bike appears to have a slim and lightweight design. Spy images show a tall stance, a front beak and a round LED headlamp. It also gets a long seat, a rear luggage rack and handguards. These elements give the motorcycle a clear dual-sport character.
The bike could use a version of Hero’s 163cc air-cooled engine. This engine currently powers the Xtreme 160R 2V and produces 15PS and 14Nm. Hero may tune it differently for the adventure bike to suit low-speed riding and off-road use. However, the final engine specifications are not confirmed yet.
The motorcycle is also expected to use a steel-tube frame, telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. The spy bike appears to have a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel, a setup commonly used on entry-level adventure motorcycles.
The design also reminds us of the older Hero Impulse, which was sold in India as a road-legal dual-sport bike. The new motorcycle could follow the same formula with modern styling and better technology. Hero has not confirmed whether the production model will actually carry the Impulse name.

Expected Price and Rivals
Hero could position the new motorcycle below the XPulse 210. Its expected price could be around Rs 1.30 lakh, although Hero has not announced pricing. The bike could rival other affordable adventure motorcycles and become one of the most accessible ADV options in India.
