2027 Tata Nexon Spied Again: Boxier Design and New Rear Profile Revealed

Tata Motors continues to test the next-generation Nexon ahead of its expected 2027 launch. A new test vehicle has now appeared on public roads, giving us a closer look at the upcoming SUV’s rear profile and overall shape.

The latest test mule shows a more upright design than the current Nexon. It also features a flatter roofline and a less coupe-like rear section. These changes suggest that Tata wants to give the new Nexon a more traditional SUV character while improving space inside the cabin.

2027 Tata Nexon Gets a Boxier Shape

The biggest change visible in the latest spy shots is the new body shape. The upcoming Nexon appears more upright and boxy than the current model.

The roofline now looks flatter, especially towards the rear. Tata has also changed the side profile and rear door design. The new shape could improve headroom for rear passengers and create more usable cabin space. The wheel arches remain prominent, while the overall profile now looks closer to a conventional SUV.

New Tata Nexon Rear Design

The latest spy images provide a better look at the rear section. The new Nexon appears to get a more upright tailgate and a larger rear windscreen.

The test vehicle also shows high-mounted tail lamps. Some illuminated sections are visible through the camouflage. Tata has also added a roof spoiler, while the rear bumper remains hidden under heavy camouflage.

The new vertical rear design could also help increase luggage space. Tata may move away from the heavily sculpted rear look of the current Nexon.

Fuel Filler Cap Gets a New Position

The test mule also reveals a change to the fuel filler cap. Tata has moved it higher on the rear quarter panel.

The filler cap now sits almost in line with the door handles. This small change could indicate modifications underneath the body. Along with the new roofline and rear structure, it suggests that Tata is working on more than a simple facelift.

2027 Tata Nexon Interior

Earlier spy shots had already given a glimpse of the new Nexon’s cabin. The test vehicle used several parts from the current model, including the steering wheel, infotainment screen and climate controls.

However, Tata had removed several dashboard components and added testing equipment. This suggests that the prototype remains in an early development stage.

The production model could receive a completely redesigned cabin with newer screens and features from Tata’s latest SUVs.

2027 Tata Nexon Engine Options

Tata has not confirmed the powertrain details yet. The new Nexon could continue with petrol and CNG powertrains.

The current 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines could continue in some form. Tata could also retain the CNG option. However, reports suggest that the company could review the diesel engine for the next generation.

A new Nexon EV should also arrive as part of the next-generation lineup.

2027 Tata Nexon Launch

Tata Motors has not announced an official launch date for the new Nexon. The SUV could arrive in India sometime in 2027. The new-generation model will continue to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq.
