New Jaguar Type 01 Debuts With 1,016 BHP and 720 Km Range
Jaguar has unveiled the new Jaguar Type 01, marking a major step in the British luxury brand’s electric vehicle journey. The new model made its global debut in New York and takes the production form of the Type 00 concept that Jaguar revealed in 2024.
The Type 01 is a four-door electric grand tourer built on Jaguar’s dedicated Electric Architecture (JEA). It combines an unusual design with a three-motor powertrain and a four-seat luxury cabin.
Jaguar claims more than 1,000PS of power and a range of up to 450 miles, while India could get the model in 2027.
Jaguar Type 01: Design
The Jaguar Type 01 gets a dramatic design with a long bonnet, low roofline and wide stance. The production model keeps several design elements from the Type 00 concept but adds four doors for better usability. It rides on large 23-inch wheels and gets slim LED headlamps with Jaguar’s new Strikethrough design.
The same design treatment continues across the rear. One of the biggest talking points is the absence of a conventional rear windscreen. Jaguar uses a rear-facing camera instead. Active aerodynamic vanes and a three-stage deployable spoiler help the Type 01 achieve a claimed drag coefficient of 0.23.

Jaguar Type 01: Powertrain
The Type 01 uses three electric motors that deliver up to 1,016 bhp and 1,365 Nm of torque, according to the supplied launch report. Jaguar’s official specification lists maximum output at up to 1,030PS. The all-wheel-drive setup uses intelligent torque vectoring to distribute power between the wheels.
Jaguar claims a 0-100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds. The car uses a 118kWh-class battery and supports an 850V electrical architecture. Jaguar claims up to 450 miles of range, while 350kW DC charging can add up to 200 miles in 13 minutes under suitable conditions.
Jaguar Type 01: Cabin
Inside, the Jaguar Type 01 gets a four-seat layout with a minimalist dashboard and a large 24-inch OLED display. A separate seven-inch touchscreen handles functions such as climate control and media. The cabin uses a central spine to create individual seating areas for each occupant.
Jaguar also offers heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof and a panoramic soundbar. The camera-based rear-view system replaces the conventional rear window and mirror arrangement. The Type 01 also offers more than 450 litres of combined load space, along with additional hidden storage areas.
Jaguar Type 01: Price and Rivals
Jaguar has not announced the India price yet. Global orders are expected to open in early 2027, with first deliveries planned for the second half of 2027. The Type 01 will target high-end electric GT buyers and could rival models such as the Porsche Taycan, Maserati GranTurismo Folgore and Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV.
