Renault E-Space Concept Revealed: New Electric MPV Revives Iconic Espace Nameplate
Renault has unveiled the new Renault E-Space Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, bringing the iconic Espace nameplate back to its original MPV roots.
The concept previews a modern electric family vehicle that moves away from the SUV-focused design trend. Renault introduced the Espace in 1984 as Europe’s first MPV, but the nameplate switched to an SUV-based model in 2023.
The new E-Space Concept returns to the one-box MPV silhouette while adding modern electric technology, a spacious cabin and a highly flexible interior. Renault describes it as an alternative to SUVs and saloons, with a strong focus on comfort and family use.

Renault E-Space Concept: Design
The Renault E-Space Concept gets a clean and futuristic exterior with several design elements inspired by earlier Espace generations. At the front, it features a large U-shaped LED light signature around a blanked-off grille.
The illuminated Renault logo appears to float at the centre. The heavily raked windscreen flows towards the bonnet and takes inspiration from the TGV train profile of the original Espace.
The concept measures 4.70 metres long, 2.02 metres wide and 1.67 metres tall. It also features a large glasshouse and huge 24-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, U-shaped lighting and a prominent spoiler complete the modern MPV design.
Renault E-Space Concept: Powertrain
Renault has not revealed the exact battery, motor or performance figures of the E-Space Concept. The concept is fully electric and showcases the brand’s vision for future family mobility. Renault is developing its new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform with an 800-volt electrical architecture. This platform is designed to support different body styles, including SUVs, saloons and MPVs.
If Renault eventually develops a production version of the E-Space Concept on this platform, it could support a claimed WLTP range of up to 750km. However, Renault has not confirmed whether the concept will enter production or revealed its final powertrain specifications.

Renault E-Space Concept: Cabin
The E-Space Concept has a three-row cabin with six individual seats and focuses heavily on space, comfort and flexibility. Its dashboard features Renault’s new OpenR Panorama display that stretches across the entire width of the cabin.
A separate touchscreen handles functions such as navigation and music. The concept also uses a yoke-style steering wheel and steer-by-wire technology, which eliminates the conventional mechanical steering column.
The second-row seats can fold flat to create a table, while folding tables are also mounted behind the front seats. The cabin gets vibrant colours, textile surfaces and a large glass area that allows more natural light inside.
Renault E-Space Concept: Safety Features
Renault has not announced the complete safety equipment of the E-Space Concept. Since it remains a design and technology study, production-specification safety details are not available yet.
The concept focuses more on future technology, interior flexibility and electric mobility. Its steer-by-wire system is one of the major technical highlights, while the flat floor and spacious three-row layout improve cabin usability. Renault has also developed the concept around its human-first technology philosophy.
If a production version is eventually developed, it is expected to receive modern driver assistance and active safety systems, but Renault has not confirmed the exact equipment list at this stage.

Renault E-Space Concept: Price and Rivals
Renault has not announced a production date or price for the E-Space Concept. In fact, the company currently describes it as a concept exploring future electric family cars rather than a confirmed production model.
If developed, it could target electric MPVs and large family EVs, offering an alternative to conventional electric SUVs and saloons.
