Hyundai Bayon Revealed Ahead of October Launch: Design, Engine, Features, Safety and Expected Price
Hyundai has revealed the new Hyundai Bayon in India ahead of its upcoming launch, adding another SUV to its growing lineup. The new Hyundai Bayon will sit between the Venue and Creta and will target buyers looking for a feature-rich SUV with a more compact footprint.
Hyundai has given the Bayon its latest “Art of Steel” design language, along with a cabin inspired by the Brazil-spec i20. At launch, the SUV will use a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and CVT gearbox options.
Hyundai has also started accepting bookings for the Bayon in India.

Hyundai Bayon: Design
The Hyundai Bayon gets a distinctive exterior design with Hyundai’s latest “Art of Steel” design language. At the front, it features split LED lighting with slim DRLs positioned along the leading edge of the bonnet.
The main headlamp units sit lower on the bumper, which also gets black and silver cladding. The side profile features flared wheel arches, sharp character lines and chunky body cladding.
The SUV also gets stylish 17-inch alloy wheels and gloss-black pillars that create a floating-roof effect. At the rear, slim tail-lamps sit within a black band, while the tailgate carries the Bayon name in large lettering.
Hyundai Bayon Powertrain
The Hyundai Bayon will initially come with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces 115hp and 144Nm and also powers the Hyundai Creta. Hyundai will offer the engine with two transmission choices: a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic.
The Bayon will use a front-wheel-drive layout. Hyundai is also expected to introduce a CNG version at a later stage, although the company has not officially confirmed its launch details yet.
If introduced, the CNG version could use an underbody tank and could become Hyundai’s first model above four metres in length to receive a factory-fitted CNG powertrain.

Hyundai Bayon Cabin and Features
The Hyundai Bayon gets a modern cabin inspired by the Brazil-spec i20. Its biggest highlight is the connected dual-screen setup, featuring two 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The dashboard also gets physical buttons and rotary controls for easier operation. Other highlights include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, connected-car technology and OTA updates.
The Bayon will also be Hyundai India’s first model to feature a Generative AI voice assistant. Hyundai says the system can understand natural conversational requests. The SUV also gets Bluelink connectivity with more than 70 features, onboard navigation, split-screen functionality and multi-language support.
Hyundai Bayon Safety Features
Hyundai is expected to equip the Bayon with a comprehensive safety package. The revealed SUV gets features such as front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS technology.
The safety package is also expected to include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. An electronic parking brake with auto-hold is also expected. Hyundai has not yet revealed the complete variant-wise safety equipment list, so some features could remain limited to higher variants.
The final specifications will become clearer when Hyundai announces the complete variant lineup and pricing.
Hyundai Bayon Price and Rivals
The Hyundai Bayon is expected to be priced between Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 14 lakh (ex-showroom). It will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV range and will primarily rival the Maruti Victoris. Depending on the final pricing, it could also compete with SUVs such as the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
