Mercedes-Benz has started accepting bookings for the GLC Electric across India ahead of its November launch. The company will assemble the electric SUV locally at its Chakan manufacturing facility. Mercedes-Benz says the India launch will take place only around six months after the model entered European markets.

The Indian market will get the GLC 400 4Matic variant. It uses a 94kWh battery and two electric motors, with one motor powering each axle. The setup produces around 490hp and 800Nm and sends power to all four wheels. Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100kmph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds.

The GLC Electric also supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW. Mercedes-Benz claims that compatible charging equipment can add up to around 300km of WLTP range in 10 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Features and Interior

The biggest highlight inside the new GLC Electric is its 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. The large display combines the driver’s instrument cluster, central infotainment screen and passenger display into one seamless unit. It runs Mercedes-Benz’s latest MBUX software and includes an AI-powered assistant.

The cabin gets a five-seat layout and retains physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console. The international model also offers features such as a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, advanced connectivity and premium audio equipment.

The SUV also gets advanced chassis technology. Mercedes-Benz offers air suspension and rear-wheel steering, with the latter turning the rear wheels by up to 4.5 degrees. This can reduce the turning circle and make the large SUV easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces.

For safety, the GLC Electric gets an extensive driver-assistance package. Depending on the specification, the system can offer adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, automated parking and other advanced functions.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Range and Performance

The GLC 400 4Matic uses a 94kWh battery and a dual-motor AWD system. The international model delivers 489hp and 800Nm, while Mercedes-Benz claims a WLTP range of up to 715km. The SUV can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.3 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 210kmph.

The electric SUV uses an 800V electrical architecture and supports up to 330kW DC fast charging. Mercedes-Benz claims a 10-80 percent charging time of around 22 minutes under suitable conditions.
