Next-Gen Jeep Compass Patent Drawing Surfaces in India: What We Know So Far
The next-generation Jeep Compass could be heading towards India, as a patent drawing of the new SUV has surfaced in the country. The latest development has once again raised questions about Jeep’s plans for the Compass in India.
The current-generation Compass has been on sale here since 2017 and has received multiple updates over the years. Jeep globally introduced the third-generation Compass in 2025 with a completely new design and multiple powertrain options.
However, the global model initially did not have a confirmed India launch plan. The latest patent filing could indicate that Jeep is evaluating the new Compass for the Indian market.
Next-Gen Jeep Compass Patent Drawing Reveals New Design
The patent drawing gives a glimpse of the design of the next-generation Jeep Compass. The new SUV follows Jeep’s familiar design language but gets a more modern and boxy appearance. The front features the brand’s signature seven-slot grille, while the headlamps sit closer to the outer edges of the front fascia.
The new Compass also gets a flatter bonnet, squared-off wheel arches and a more upright body. The design retains the rugged character expected from a Jeep SUV while adding sharper details. The production model also features a more modern cabin and updated technology compared with the outgoing Compass.
Jeep has already confirmed that the new-generation Compass uses the STLA Medium platform in international markets. The architecture supports multiple powertrain configurations and four-wheel drive.

Next-Gen Jeep Compass Expected Features and Powertrain
The next-generation Jeep Compass could bring a major technology upgrade over the current India-spec model. The global version gets a redesigned dashboard with a large central touchscreen, digital instrumentation and a more modern cabin layout. It also offers improved connectivity and additional driver-assistance features.
The biggest change could come under the bonnet. The new Compass global range includes multiple electrified powertrains instead of relying only on the diesel engine used by the current India-spec model. International versions include mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrain options. Some versions also offer all-wheel drive.
Reports also suggest that a hybrid version could offer around 222hp and 350Nm, along with an electric-only range of up to 80km. However, Jeep has not confirmed which powertrain options it would bring to India.
For India, Jeep could focus on a more cost-effective powertrain strategy. The company has also highlighted deeper localisation as part of its India strategy, with a target of up to 90 percent localisation.
Next-Gen Jeep Compass Expected Price and Rivals
Jeep has not confirmed the India launch date or price of the new Compass. The SUV could sit above the current Compass, which starts at Rs. 17.99 lakh. If launched, the new model could compete with the Hyundai Tucson, Tata Harrier, Volkswagen Tiguan and MG Hector, depending on its final positioning.
