Maruti Fronx Facelift Spied: What Are We Expecting?

Maruti Suzuki has started testing the updated Maruti Fronx Facelift in India ahead of its expected launch in the coming months. The first test mule reveals several important changes that could make the upcoming Maruti Fronx facelift more than a cosmetic update.

The refreshed crossover is expected to get a revised grille, new safety features, rear disc brakes and additional cabin equipment. The biggest mechanical change could come in the form of Maruti Suzuki’s newer 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine.

The current 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine could make way for this newer unit. The existing 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is expected to continue.

The 2027 Maruti Fronx facelift will retain the familiar coupe-SUV silhouette of the current model.

Maruti Fronx Facelift: Design

The 2027 Maruti Fronx facelift will retain the familiar coupe-SUV silhouette of the current model. The latest test mule shows the same sloping roofline, split lighting setup and overall body proportions.

However, Maruti Suzuki appears to have made changes to the front section. The prototype features a revised grille with a concealed central section that could house an ADAS radar sensor.

The front bumper is also expected to get minor changes. The LED DRLs and main headlamp arrangement appear similar to the current Fronx. At the rear, the test mule remains heavily camouflaged, so the exact changes remain unclear. The tail lamps and rear bumper could receive subtle revisions.

Maruti Fronx Facelift: Powertrain

The biggest expected change on the new Maruti Fronx could come under the bonnet. Maruti Suzuki is expected to replace the current 1.2-litre four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine with its newer 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine.

This engine already powers the updated Swift, Dzire, Baleno and Toyota Glanza. The Z12E engine produces around 83 PS and 112 Nm in these applications.

It could pair with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox in the Fronx facelift. A CNG version could also continue. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine is expected to remain available, producing 100 PS and 148 Nm with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Maruti Fronx Facelift: Cabin and Features

Maruti Suzuki has not revealed the interior of the Fronx facelift yet, but the updated Baleno gives us a strong indication of what to expect. The refreshed crossover could receive ventilated front seats with new leatherette upholstery, wireless charging and an upgraded audio system.

The biggest upgrade could be the addition of Level 2 ADAS. The radar visible in the test mule suggests features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance and high-beam assistance could become available. The Fronx facelift could also get front parking sensors and an improved safety package.

Rear disc brakes are another important upgrade visible on the test vehicle. These changes could make the new Fronx significantly better equipped than the current model.

The current Maruti Fronx costs around Rs. 6.90 lakh to Rs. 12.03 lakh, ex-showroom.

Maruti Fronx Facelift: Price and Rivals

The current Maruti Fronx costs around Rs. 6.90 lakh to Rs. 12.03 lakh, ex-showroom. The facelift could remain close to this range, although additional equipment may increase prices.

It will continue to rival the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and Citroen C3.
