Honda Alpha Electric SUV Debuts December 2: What to Expect
Honda has officially named its upcoming electric SUV Honda Alpha, based on the 0 Alpha concept showcased in 2025. The new electric SUV will make its global debut in India on December 2, 2026, and will become Honda’s first electric vehicle for the Indian market.
Honda will manufacture the Alpha at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, with India also expected to serve as a global production base. The production version will retain several design elements from the concept and will use two LFP battery options.
The SUV is expected to enter the market in early 2027.

Honda Alpha: Design
The Honda Alpha will carry a completely different design from the current Elevate. The production SUV is expected to retain the concept’s upright and wide stance, sharp front-end design and near-vertical rear section.
Spy images have also revealed squared LED headlamps, a clean front fascia and aero-style wheels. The front section is expected to feature an illuminated Honda logo around the charging port. At the rear, the SUV could get vertically positioned elements and a full-width lighting signature.
Honda has designed the Alpha with a focus on cabin space, and its expected 2,700-2,800mm wheelbase should give it strong proportions for a midsize electric SUV.
Honda Alpha: Powertrain and Battery
Honda has confirmed that the Alpha will use two battery pack options, with both packs using LFP chemistry. The battery capacities could range between 65kWh and 75kWh, although Honda has not yet announced the final specifications.
At launch, the electric SUV is expected to use a single electric motor with a front-wheel-drive layout. Honda has not revealed the motor output, claimed range or charging time yet.
The company has developed the Alpha for Indian conditions and plans to manufacture it locally. The SUV will also serve global markets, including Japan, making the Alpha an important model in Honda’s global EV strategy.
Honda Alpha: Cabin and Safety
The Honda Alpha is expected to get a modern cabin with a large central touchscreen and a separate digital instrument display. Earlier test mules revealed a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters for regenerative braking and physical controls on the centre console.
Honda is also expected to focus on interior space, helped by the long wheelbase and upright rear section. The final safety package remains unconfirmed, but the Alpha could offer multiple airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance systems.
Honda has yet to announce the complete equipment list, so some features should remain classified as expected until the December debut.
Honda Alpha: Price and Rivals
The Honda Alpha is expected to sit in the midsize electric SUV segment. Earlier estimates placed its price around Rs. 25 lakh-30 lakh, although Honda has not confirmed pricing.
Its rivals could include the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, MG ZS EV and Tata Sierra EV.
