BMW Enhances X5 and 7 Protection Series for India, Know details

BMW has been manufacturing protection vehicles for 45 years, employing cutting-edge protection materials such as high-pressure steel, armoured plates, and bulletproof glass.

These vehicles, including the BMW 7 series, have been favored by two Indian prime ministers, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the current officeholder. The updated BMW 7 Protection now features VR 9 – 10 protection, aligning with BRV 1999 standards that evaluate the overall protection level of an armored vehicle.

Designed to blend seamlessly with standard production cars, the BMW protection series ensures a discreet appearance while offering top-tier security.

BMW 7 Protection, also known as G73

The latest BMW 7 Protection, also known as G73, boasts a specially designed chassis, referred to as a protection core, made from 10mm ballistic steel with a unique foaming process for enhanced protection. Only four vehicles are produced weekly due to the meticulous construction process.

The updated model includes multi-layer bullet resistance, underbody splinter protection, and hydraulic electric motors for the doors, offering aerospace technology for emergency exits.

Despite its hefty weight of over 4.6 tonnes, the BMW G73 maintains agility with all-wheel driving and a turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine.

It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 6.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 210km/h. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with PAX tires capable of traveling up to 30km at 80km/h even with complete air pressure loss.

The BMW protection series, including the G73 and X5 models, provides unparalleled safety for high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and VIPs facing life-threatening situations.

BMW plans to introduce an electric version of the protection series in the future. While prices vary based on customization options, BMW offers additional protective features like air intake tanks and potential self-defense mechanisms.

Ultimately, the BMW protection series exemplifies both security and luxury, making them the ideal choice for safeguarding critical lives on the road.
