Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette Concept Revealed at Paris Motor Show 2026
Citroen has unveiled the new 2CV Fourgonnette Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, bringing back the name of its iconic small commercial van in a modern form. The concept draws inspiration from the original 2CV Fourgonnette, which served tradespeople, shopkeepers and delivery drivers in France for decades.
The new model combines the retro design theme with an electric vehicle concept aimed at modern urban businesses. Citroen has presented it as a design study and passion project, and the company has not confirmed plans for near-term production.
Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette Concept Design
The new 2CV Fourgonnette Concept takes its basic front-end design from the recently revealed 2CV Concept. Citroen has then transformed the rear section into a compact commercial vehicle body.
The concept features a short front section and a tall, boxy rear load area. The ribbed side panels pay tribute to the original Fourgonnette, while the overall shape gives the concept a distinctive retro-commercial appearance. Citroen has also used a khaki-grey finish to reinforce its practical character.
At the rear, the concept gets a modern treatment with a large black panel, two small windows and slim LED lighting elements. The design combines the simple appearance of the original van with contemporary styling.
Inspired by the Original 2CV Fourgonnette
The original Citroen 2CV arrived in 1948, while the Fourgonnette commercial version followed in 1951. The van became popular among small businesses and independent professionals because of its affordability, practicality and durability.
Citroen produced more than 1.2 million examples of the original Fourgonnette in its different versions. The vehicle served farmers, bakers, tradespeople and delivery operators before production ended in 1978.
The new concept aims to recreate that practical and accessible character in an electric vehicle format.
Electric Powertrain and Practical Focus
Citroen describes the 2CV Fourgonnette Concept as an electric vehicle designed around simplicity and usability. The company has not released detailed specifications for the concept’s battery, electric motor, driving range or payload.
Citroen says the concept focuses on the essentials, with an emphasis on ease of use, accessibility and repair simplicity. The company has positioned it as a modern interpretation of the small commercial vehicle rather than simply a retro design exercise.
The concept shares its foundation and front-end design direction with the new electric 2CV Concept. Citroen’s production version of the passenger car is expected around 2028, with the company targeting an accessible price point for the European market.
Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette Production Plans
Citroen has not confirmed a production version of the 2CV Fourgonnette. The company describes the vehicle as a design study or passion project created by its designers.
Therefore, buyers should not expect the concept to enter showrooms in the immediate future. Citroen says the project could open avenues for future consideration, but it has not announced a launch date, price or production specifications.
2CV Fourgonnette Concept: What It Means for Citroen
The new concept reconnects Citroen with its history in compact commercial vehicles. The original Fourgonnette became an important tool for small businesses, and Citroen has now explored how that idea could work with electric mobility.
The concept also arrives as the automaker prepares a new electric 2CV for the European market. A production version of the 2CV is expected in 2028, while the Fourgonnette remains a design study for now.
The Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette Concept therefore offers a look at how the brand could combine its historic commercial-vehicle identity with modern electric mobility. However, its future production remains unconfirmed.
