Hyundai Bayon Launched in India at Rs 9.99 lakh: Design, Engine and Rivals
Hyundai has launched the new Hyundai Bayon in India today, October 26, 2026, expanding its SUV portfolio between the Venue and Creta.
The new Hyundai Bayon brings a larger footprint than the Venue, a technology-rich cabin and a naturally aspirated petrol engine. Hyundai has positioned the Bayon as an intelligent utility vehicle with a strong focus on connectivity, safety and in-car technology.
The SUV becomes the first Hyundai model in India to offer a generative AI-powered voice assistant. Hyundai has also equipped it with dual 12.3-inch displays, Level 2 ADAS and over-the-air software updates. Bookings had opened earlier for Rs. 11,000.

2026 Hyundai Bayon: Design and Dimensions
The Hyundai Bayon gets a modern SUV design with a tall stance, a wide front profile and Hyundai’s latest lighting treatment. It features slim H-shaped LED daytime running lights, LED projector headlamps, black body cladding, roof rails and 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/55 R17 tyres.
The rear gets slim LED tail lamps, a roof spoiler and a dual-tone bumper. The Bayon offers a 411-litre boot, giving it a clear size advantage over the Venue. It also gets an upright seating position while retaining a relatively compact footprint for urban driving.
The Bayon has a length of 4,245mm and a width of 1,810mm, with a 2,600mm wheelbase and 205mm of ground clearance.
2026 Hyundai Bayon: Powertrain, Top Speed and Mileage
The new Hyundai Bayon uses a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces 115 PS and 144 Nm of peak torque. Hyundai offers the engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) automatic.
The Bayon will also get paddle shifters and three drive modes — Eco, Normal and Sport.
The SUV sends power to the front wheels. Hyundai has claimed that this SUV will offer ARAI mileage of around 18.6 kmpl and a claimed top speed of around 180 kmph, but these figures should be treated as indicative until Hyundai confirms them.

2026 Hyundai Bayon: Cabin and Safety Features
The Hyundai Bayon gets one of the most technology-focused cabins in its segment. It features dual 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. The NVIDIA-accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit supports navigation, connected services and split-screen functionality.
Hyundai also introduces its first generative AI voice assistant in India, powered by Perplexity and SoundHound AI. Other features include ventilated front seats, Bose audio, automatic climate control, electronic parking brake and Bluelink with more than 70 connected functions. Safety equipment includes six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, TPMS, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot camera and Level 2 ADAS with 23 functions.
Hyundai Bayon: Price and Rivals
Hyundai has launched its new Bayon at Rs. 9.99 lakh ex-showroom. The CNG Version of the Bayon will be introduce in India in January 2027. Hyundai will export the made-in-India Bayon to 50 countries.
The Bayon sits between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV range. Its key rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and other compact and midsize SUVs competing in the Rs. 10 lakh-15 lakh price bracket. Hyundai could also attract buyers considering the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and other feature-loaded petrol SUVs.

Why The Hyundai Bayon Launch Matters?
The Hyundai Bayon launch matters because it fills an important gap in Hyundai’s Indian SUV portfolio. The Venue covers the sub-four-metre compact SUV segment, while the Creta sits higher in the midsize SUV category.
The Bayon adds another option between these two models and gives Hyundai a product aimed at buyers who want more space and road presence without moving directly into the higher-priced Creta range.
Its technology package also gives the Bayon a strong identity. The dual 12.3-inch displays, generative AI voice assistant, connected-car functions, OTA updates and Level 2 ADAS bring features usually associated with more expensive vehicles into this segment.
