Passenger Cars Maintain Healthy Demand

Despite the continuous SUV wave, traditional hatchbacks and sedans have shown incredible resilience. Total passenger car sales climbed 22.1% YoY to 75,231 units.

The most surprising highlight came from the entry-level mini sub-segment, containing the Alto K10 and S-Presso, which registered a massive 78% volume increase to 11,416 units. This indicates a very healthy recovery in first-time buyer confidence across rural regions.

In the highly competitive compact and mid-size categories, workhorses like the WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, and Ciaz maintained steady momentum. Furthermore, the newly updated Swift and the fleet-favorite Dzire helped lock in a comfortable 15.6% growth to 63,815 units.

These numbers confirm that while premium trends lean toward larger vehicles, affordable, highly fuel-efficient passenger cars remain essential volume pillars for the Indian auto industry.

Export Performance Remains Strong

The international business division continues to serve as an indispensable hedge against domestic market fluctuations. Maruti exports June 2026 rose by a healthy 13%, reaching 42,768 units on a year-on-year basis.
