MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm: Exterior Design

The new Hector special editions receive several styling changes over the standard SUV. The Blackstorm features an all-black exterior, while the Snowstorm uses a Pearl White body with a Starry Black roof.

Both models get a new Storm Hex grille and redesigned front and rear bumper garnishes. MG has also added Aura Storm Blade alloy wheels with red brake calipers. The SUVs feature dark chrome treatment on the MG logos, skid plates, tailgate accents and body-side cladding.

The special editions also get piano-black roof rails, black headlamp bezels and smoked connected tail lamps. These changes give both SUVs a more distinctive appearance compared with the regular Hector.

MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm: Interior and Features

MG has carried the dark theme into the cabin. Both special editions feature a Nimbus Black interior with black leather upholstery. The front headrests get Blackstorm or Snowstorm embossing, depending on the version. The steering wheel also gets a gunmetal finish.

MG continues to offer the Hector’s 14-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system with Smart Boost technology and i-SWIPE gesture control. The SUV also gets i-SMART connected-car technology with features such as a digital Bluetooth key, key sharing, remote air-conditioning control and predictive maintenance alerts.

Other equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, eight-colour ambient lighting, PM2.5 air purifier, rain-sensing wipers and a 360-degree camera.

MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm: Engine and Gearbox

The Blackstorm and Snowstorm do not get mechanical changes. Both editions use the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This engine produces 143PS and 250Nm of torque.

MG has paired the engine with a CVT automatic gearbox. Unlike some regular Hector versions, the Storm editions do not get a manual gearbox option. They also come exclusively with five seats.

Safety Features

The new Hector Storm editions continue with the SUV’s existing safety equipment. Key features include ADAS, a 360-degree HD camera, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, traction control, hill-hold control and brake assist.

The SUVs also get MG’s connected technology package and other convenience features aimed at improving everyday usability.

MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm Price in India

The MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm cost Rs. 19.99 lakh each, ex-showroom. This makes them around Rs. 35,000 more expensive than the top-spec Hector Savvy Pro CVT variant.

MG is also offering a Storm Series accessory package at no additional cost when fitted at the dealership. The package includes special edition badges, red exterior accents, ORVM protectors and side step boards.

The Hector Storm editions also come with MG’s standard Shield 3+3+3 package. It includes a three-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, three years of roadside assistance and three labour-free periodic services.

MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm Rivals

The MG Hector competes in India’s premium midsize and large SUV space against models such as the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Hyundai Alcazar. The new Storm editions target buyers looking for a more distinctive exterior and interior treatment without changes to the Hector’s core powertrain.

With the Blackstorm and Snowstorm, MG has focused mainly on styling, special-edition equipment and exclusivity while retaining the Hector’s existing 1.5-litre turbo-petrol CVT setup.
