India’s two-wheeler market recorded strong sales in September 2026 as manufacturers prepared for the festive season. Most major two-wheeler companies reported year-on-year growth during the month. Hero MotoCorp returned to the top position, followed by Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India and TVS Motor.
Bajaj Auto and Royal Enfield completed the top five. The figures below use manufacturers’ reported sales or dispatches for September 2026, which include domestic sales and exports where companies report total volumes. Here is a detailed look at the September 2026 sales performance of India’s five largest two-wheeler manufacturers.
1. Hero MotoCorp – 7,66,348 Units
Hero MotoCorp recorded total sales of 7,66,348 two-wheelers in September 2026, making it the highest-selling two-wheeler manufacturer during the month. The company recorded 11.51% year-on-year growth over 6,87,220 units in September 2025. Sales also increased 34.82% from 5,68,398 units in August 2026.
Hero’s domestic market shipments stood at 7,39,018 units, while exports reached 27,330 units. Its ICE business contributed 7,10,436 units. Vida, Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle business, dispatched 28,798 units during the month. Motorcycle dispatches stood at 6,65,994 units, while scooter volumes reached 1,00,354 units.
2. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India – 7,06,266 Units
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India recorded total sales of 7,06,266 units in September 2026. The company registered a 24% year-on-year increase compared with 5,68,164 units in September 2025. Honda’s domestic sales reached 6,36,768 units, marking a 26% increase from 5,05,693 units a year earlier.
Exports stood at 69,498 units, compared with 62,471 units in September 2025. Honda’s Indian two-wheeler portfolio includes popular motorcycles and scooters, with models such as the Activa supporting its overall sales volume. Based on manufacturer-reported September wholesale figures, Honda ranked second behind Hero MotoCorp.
3. TVS Motor – 6,45,955 Units
TVS Motor Company recorded two-wheeler sales of 6,45,955 units in September 2026. The company posted 23% year-on-year growth over 5,23,923 units in September 2025. Domestic two-wheeler sales reached 4,82,073 units, representing 17% growth from the same month last year.
TVS also recorded strong growth in electric two-wheelers. Its electric two-wheeler sales more than doubled to 65,799 units from 31,266 units in September 2025, marking a 110% increase. TVS has motorcycles, scooters and electric two-wheelers in its portfolio. The company ranked third among the major manufacturers based on September 2026 wholesale sales.
4. Bajaj Auto – 4,51,494 Units
Bajaj Auto recorded two-wheeler sales of 4,51,494 units in September 2026. The company posted 5% year-on-year growth compared with 4,30,853 units in September 2025. Domestic two-wheeler sales stood at 2,39,771 units, registering a 12% decline from the previous year.
Exports, however, increased 34% to 2,11,723 units. The strong export performance helped Bajaj Auto record overall two-wheeler growth during the month. The company sells motorcycles across commuter, sports and premium segments and also has a growing electric scooter portfolio through its Chetak brand. Bajaj ranked fourth among the top five manufacturers in September.
5. Royal Enfield – 1,33,958 Units
Royal Enfield recorded total motorcycle sales of 1,33,958 units in September 2026, making it the fifth-largest manufacturer among the companies listed here. The company recorded 8% year-on-year growth over 1,24,328 units in September 2025. Domestic sales increased 7% to 1,21,326 units, while exports rose 17% to 12,632 units.
Royal Enfield said September 2026 marked its highest-ever monthly sales. The company sells motorcycles mainly in the middleweight segment, with models such as the Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350, Himalayan and newer 650cc motorcycles forming part of its range.
