Porsche Unveils 911 GT4 R Race Car: Gets More Power, Better Aerodynamics And Enhanced Safety

Porsche has officially revealed the all-new 911 GT4 R race car, expanding its highly successful customer racing lineup. Developed specifically for private racing teams and amateur motorsport enthusiasts, the new GT4 R is designed to bridge the gap between entry-level track cars and the more extreme GT3 racing machines.

Built on the latest-generation 911 platform, the race car benefits from significant improvements in aerodynamics, performance, and driver safety. Porsche says the GT4 R has undergone extensive testing at multiple racing circuits around the world to ensure durability and competitiveness.

The new model is expected to compete in GT4 championships across Europe, North America, Asia, and other international racing series.

Porsche 911 GT4 R Aggressive Design With Race-Focused Aerodynamics

The Porsche 911 GT4 R features a purpose-built racing design aimed at maximizing aerodynamic efficiency and high-speed stability. At the front, the race car gets a redesigned bumper with larger air intakes, an extended front splitter, and additional cooling ducts for improved airflow management.

The side profile is characterized by wider fenders, lightweight racing wheels, and optimized body panels. At the rear, a massive fixed wing works alongside an aggressive diffuser to generate additional downforce. Built using lightweight materials, the GT4 R maintains a low curb weight while improving structural rigidity.

The race car measures approximately 4,570 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and features a lower ride height compared to the road-going 911, helping enhance track performance.

More Powerful Engine Delivers Stronger Track Performance

Powering the new Porsche 911 GT4 R is a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six petrol engine mounted behind the rear axle. The engine produces approximately 500 hp, representing a noticeable improvement over the outgoing GT4 race car.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential racing gearbox designed for rapid gear shifts and consistent performance under demanding track conditions.

Porsche engineers have also refined the cooling system and engine management software to improve reliability during endurance races. The GT4 R is expected to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in under four seconds and achieve a top speed exceeding 290 kmph.

Driver-Focused Cabin With Enhanced Safety Equipment

Inside, the 911 GT4 R features a stripped-out motorsport-focused cockpit designed to meet international racing regulations. The cabin receives a FIA-approved roll cage, lightweight racing bucket seat, six-point safety harness, and an integrated fire suppression system.

Porsche has also fitted a multifunction racing steering wheel and a fully digital motorsport display that provides real-time performance data.

Safety has been further enhanced through improved side-impact protection and reinforced chassis structures. The race car is engineered to comply with the latest FIA GT4 standards, ensuring a high level of protection for drivers competing in professional and amateur racing events.

Porsche 911 GT4 R: Price And Availability

Porsche is expected to begin customer deliveries of the 911 GT4 R in international markets before the start of the 2027 racing season.

The race car is likely to carry a starting price of around €220,000 (approximately Rs 2.2 crore before taxes and race-spec options). It will be available exclusively for motorsport teams and customer racing programmes worldwide.
