Sierra EV, Safari EV And Avinya: Tata Motors Biggest Future Launches Explained
Tata Motors is preparing an aggressive product strategy for FY27 with six upcoming launches across ICE and electric vehicle segments. Tata Motors continues to strengthen its position in India’s SUV and EV market while preparing premium and future-focused products like the Sierra EV and Avinya range.
The company is aiming for industry-beating growth in FY27 amid rising demand for SUVs, CNG vehicles, and EVs. By focusing on these high-margin, next-generation vehicles, the homegrown carmaker is ready to cater to both budget-conscious buyers and premium tech enthusiasts.
Let us look at what Tata Motors FY27 plans look like and how these new machines will transform Indian roads.
Tata Motors’ Six-Model Pipeline Explained
Tata Motors has officially confirmed a six-product pipeline for FY27 to expand its portfolio aggressively as competition increases in India’s passenger vehicle market. The strategic lineup includes two internal combustion engine (ICE) facelifts, two electric vehicle (EV) facelifts, and two completely new products.
The stream of launches will kick off with the highly anticipated Tata Sierra EV, which is confirmed to arrive in Q2 of the financial year. Following this, the company will introduce the Safari EV during the festive season to challenge premium electric rivals.
Finally, the flagship Tata Avinya premium range is likely to make its debut in the late third and fourth quarters of FY27. This entire strategy firmly anchors Tata’s focus on dominating both the premium SUV and EV growth segments in India.
Tata Sierra EV Could Become The Biggest Launch
The return of the legendary Sierra nameplate as the Tata Sierra EV is easily one of the most exciting automotive events of the year. Slated for a launch timeline between July and September 2026 (Q2 FY27), it serves as a modern interpretation of the iconic Sierra SUV from the 90s.
A Modern Icon Reborn
Built on the Acti.ev+ platform, it will feature a futuristic design with a body-colored closed-off grille and unique lighting elements. The Sierra EV targets premium buyers with an expected triple-screen layout dashboard and high-quality materials.
It is expected to offer a 55 kWh battery pack, with premium dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants stretching real-world driving range up to 500 km.
Playing heavily on nostalgia, this model will launch as Tata’s sixth electric car in India, putting immense pressure on Mahindra EVs and Hyundai electric SUVs.
Safari EV And Future EV Expansion
Arriving right in time for the festive season, the Safari EV will step in as Tata’s flagship three-row electric offering. This long-overdue premium vehicle directly showcases Tata’s growing EV strategy and leadership ambitions in the 7-seater space, where it will go head-to-head with upcoming rivals like the Mahindra XEV 9s.
The Safari EV will use an updated EV architecture, likely borrowing high-capacity battery tech and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual-motor configuration from the Harrier EV platform.
Tata Motors aims to maintain its solid 40% EV market share in India through this launch, setting up a clear roadmap to introduce multiple future EV nameplates by FY2030 to meet the rising demand for electric SUVs.
ICE And EV Facelifts Also In Pipeline
To keep its current product portfolio incredibly fresh against fierce competition from Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Hyundai, and Kia, Tata is refreshing its core volume drivers. This strategy includes two ICE and two EV facelifts.
Refreshing the Core Lineup
The sub-compact Nexon is Tata’s true cash cow, and an upcoming mid-life update will bring the premium vehicle right back to the top of the segment. Alongside the Nexon, test mules of the Tiago and Tiago EV facelifts have been heavily spotted on public roads, indicating cosmetic and tech revisions are just around the corner.
Tata Motors is expected to focus heavily on modern connected tech, Level 2 ADAS safety suites, updated digital instrumentation, and premium soft-touch cabin materials to maintain high consumer interest.

Avinya Could Transform Tata’s Premium Image
The upcoming Tata Avinya range is expected to debut in late FY27, serving as Tata’s dedicated premium EV sub-brand. Built entirely on Jaguar Land Rover’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform, the first product to launch will be a large, ultra-futuristic premium luxury SUV.
Entering the Luxury Segment
The Avinya range will likely be the crown jewel of the Tata pavilion at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Expo. To make it a truly premium experience, Tata Motors plans to establish separate premium experience zones to showcase these luxury models.
With expected pricing touching between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh, Avinya will directly leverage advanced global electric architecture to help Tata break out of mass-market constraints and successfully enter the high-end luxury EV ecosystem.
Tata Motors Preparing For Aggressive Future Growth
The shifting customer demand toward feature-loaded SUVs and cleaner electric cars is driving Tata Motors’ long-term growth roadmap. While Tata currently commands roughly 13% of India’s passenger vehicle market, it aims to scale its market share to 16% by FY27 and eventually cross 18-20% by FY2030.
Despite facing mounting cost pressures and fierce competition from Mahindra, Hyundai, MG, and Maruti Suzuki, Tata is aggressively building out a comprehensive EV ecosystem. By prioritizing premiumisation and cutting-edge software innovation, the brand is successfully converting its current volume gains into long-term market dominance.
