Triumph Bonneville 400 Breaks Cover: New 350cc Retro Bike Revealed
Triumph has revealed its much-awaited Triumph Bonneville 400, adding a new retro roadster to its India-focused 350cc motorcycle range. The new motorcycle brings the classic Bonneville design language to a smaller and more accessible platform.
It features a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, round headlamp, wire-spoke wheels, twin rear shocks and a flat seat. In India, the Bonneville 400 will use Triumph’s 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The motorcycle will take on established models such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and Honda CB350.
Triumph Bonneville 400 Design and Exterior
The Bonneville 400 gets a traditional retro design inspired by Triumph’s larger Bonneville T100 and T120 models. The motorcycle features a large teardrop-shaped fuel tank with tank pads, a round headlamp and round indicators. It also gets a flat bench-style seat and full-length mudguards.
Triumph has used wire-spoke wheels to strengthen the classic look. The bike also gets a single peashooter-style exhaust, which closely follows the styling of larger Bonneville motorcycles. The test motorcycles showed an offset fuel-filler cap and traditional side panels.
The chassis also differs from other Triumph 400 models. The Bonneville 400 uses conventional telescopic front forks with rubber gaiters and twin rear shock absorbers. Triumph has also developed a revised chassis and swingarm for the motorcycle.

Triumph Bonneville 400 Engine and Performance
The new Bonneville 400 will use Triumph’s 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine already powers the Speed T4 in India. The Speed T4 produces 29hp and 31Nm, and Triumph could use a similar tune for the Bonneville to match its relaxed retro character.
The final power and torque figures for the Bonneville 400 will depend on its production-spec tune. The motorcycle will continue to use a modern liquid-cooled engine despite its traditional styling.
The 349cc engine comes from Triumph’s India-made 350cc platform. The company developed this smaller engine to bring its motorcycles under India’s lower GST bracket for motorcycles up to 350cc.
Triumph Bonneville 400 Features and Hardware
The Bonneville 400 focuses more on classic styling than the sporty equipment seen on the Speed 400. Its conventional front fork and twin-shock rear suspension give it a traditional roadster appearance.
The motorcycle gets disc brakes at both ends and is expected to feature dual-channel ABS. The production bike is also expected to offer modern lighting and instrumentation while retaining its classic appearance.
Triumph has also indicated that the Bonneville 400 will get a range of accessories. These could include options for touring and styling, allowing owners to customise the motorcycle.
Triumph Bonneville 400 Price and Rivals
Triumph has not yet confirmed the final India price of the Bonneville 400. The motorcycle is expected to sit in the traditional 350cc retro roadster segment and could be positioned around the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda CB350.
The Bonneville 400 will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and Honda CB350. Its classic Triumph styling and 349cc engine will give buyers another option in this popular segment.
Triumph is expected to announce more details about the motorcycle, including its India launch timeline and final specifications, around its official reveal.
