Yamaha appears to be preparing a new Yamaha XSR900 SP for overseas markets after the model designation recently surfaced in US NHTSA vehicle identification number filings.

This upcoming motorcycle could arrive as a performance-focused, higher-specification variant of the existing Yamaha XSR900.

However, Yamaha has not yet officially unveiled the motorcycle or confirmed a specific market launch timeline.

Yamaha XSR900 SP: Engine and Performance

The XSR900 SP is expected to utilize Yamaha’s proven 890cc, three-cylinder CP3 engine. Regulatory documents list a peak output of 117.4hp, perfectly matching the standard XSR900 listed in the same paperwork.

This indicates that the SP variant will likely place its primary focus on chassis, handling, and equipment upgrades rather than extracting extra engine power.

Yamaha XSR900 SP: Suspension and Brakes

Industry analysts speculate that the 890cc Yamaha bike might borrow top-tier hardware similar to the MT-09 SP.

Components like premium adjustable front suspension, an Öhlins rear shock, and high-performance Brembo Stylema brake calipers could feature on the model.

While these parts remain unconfirmed by the manufacturer, they would provide sharper handling and stronger braking performance.
