Mahindra Thar Roxx Spied Testing With DAVINCI Suspension: What We Know

Mahindra is testing an updated version of the Mahindra Thar Roxx in India, and the latest test mule could bring an important mechanical upgrade to the five-door SUV. Spy shots suggest that Mahindra may add its DAVINCI damping technology to the Thar Roxx.

The technology recently debuted on the updated three-door Thar, now called the Thar OG, and also features on the XUV 7XO. Mahindra has not confirmed the upcoming Thar Roxx update yet.

However, the frequent testing of the SUV suggests that the company could introduce the suspension upgrade soon.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: What Is New With the Suspension?

The current Thar Roxx already uses a penta-link rear suspension with Frequency Dependent Dampers (FDD). The suspected update could add DAVINCI dampers to improve suspension control further. Mahindra uses this technology on the Thar OG and XUV 7XO.

The DAVINCI setup uses specially designed mechanical valves to provide a non-linear damping response over different road surfaces. This allows the suspension to handle sharp impacts and larger bumps while maintaining better body control.

Mahindra Thar Roxx DAVINCI Suspension: How It Works

DAVINCI stands for Mahindra’s approach to frequency-dependent damping technology. The system changes the damping response according to the type and frequency of suspension movement. Unlike a conventional FDD setup, DAVINCI uses a specially designed shim-stack arrangement and mechanical valves to create a non-linear damping curve.

This allows the dampers to react differently to small road undulations, sharp bumps and larger suspension movements. On the Thar OG, the technology has improved ride comfort and reduced the harsh impact that passengers can feel over broken roads.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: What Else Could Change?

The latest test mule does not show major visible exterior changes. This suggests that Mahindra could focus primarily on mechanical improvements with the upcoming update. The Thar Roxx already uses the M_Glyde 4G platform and a penta-link rear suspension setup.

The SUV could therefore retain its existing exterior and interior while gaining improved ride quality. Mahindra could also introduce minor equipment or feature changes, but the company has not confirmed any such updates yet.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Engine and Price

The Thar Roxx currently offers petrol and diesel engine options, with manual and automatic transmissions depending on the variant. Its 4×4 versions use the 2.2-litre diesel engine with Mahindra’s 4XPLOR system. The company has not announced any powertrain changes as part of the suspected suspension update. The Thar Roxx competes with the Force Gurkha 5-door and other lifestyle SUVs.

The price and availability of the updated Thar Roxx will be announce at the time of its launch. Reports suggest that company may launch this SUV at the starting price of Rs 11 lakh ex-showroom.
