The new hybrid version sits above the existing turbo-petrol variants and gives buyers another powertrain option in the Duster range.

Renault Duster Hybrid Gets 1.8-Litre Engine

The biggest change comes under the bonnet. The Duster E-Tech 160 uses a 1.8-litre four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine along with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack.

The petrol engine produces 110hp and 175Nm, while the complete hybrid system develops 160 PS of combined power. Renault pairs the setup with a multi-mode automatic transmission. The battery charges automatically through regenerative braking and energy recovery, so owners do not need to plug the SUV into an external charger.

Renault claims the Duster Hybrid can complete the 0-100kph sprint in 9.61 seconds. Fuel efficiency remains one of the biggest highlights of the new Duster Hybrid. Renault claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 29 kmpl, making it one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its segment.

The self-charging hybrid system can run the SUV in electric mode for up to 80% of city driving, depending on driving conditions. The battery receives charge while the vehicle drives, particularly through regenerative braking and energy recovery.

Features and Safety

The Renault Duster Hybrid retains the new-generation Duster’s feature-rich cabin. Depending on the variant, equipment includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone connectivity and a powered tailgate.

The SUV also offers modern safety and driver-assistance technology, including Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, tyre-pressure monitoring and multiple airbags.

Renault has built the new Duster on its RGMP platform, which supports petrol, hybrid and CNG powertrains. This gives the company flexibility to offer different powertrain options for the Indian market.
