Vietnamese EV Maker VinFast Opens Its First Showroom in India

Vietnam’s electric vehicle manufacturer, VinFast Auto India, officially marked its entry into the Indian retail market on July 27, 2025, with the inauguration of its first showroom in Surat, Gujarat.

Located in the Piplod area, the 3,000‑sq‑ft facility operated by local partner Chandan Car serves as the brand’s inaugural physical touchpoint.

It’s designed as a one-stop hub for showcasing the premier electric SUVs VF 6 and VF 7, along with facilitating pre-bookings and after-sales services.

What’s Inside the Iconic VinFast Surat Showroom?

The showroom spans a compact but strategically planned 3,000 sq ft space in Piplod, offering prospective buyers an immersive product experience from vehicle display to test drives and purchase consultation.

Alongside sales, the facility integrates end-to-end after-sales support, reinforcing VinFast’s intent to deliver a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem to Indian consumers.

Pre‑bookings for the VF 6 and VF 7 began on July 15, 2025, both through the showroom and via VinFast’s official website, with a fully refundable booking deposit of Rs 21,000.

Expansion Roadmap: From One Showroom to 35 by Year-End

VinFast has outlined an ambitious dealership rollout plan. By the end of 2025, it aims to establish 35 showrooms across more than 27 cities, backed by signed partnerships with 13 leading dealer groups, covering markets ranging from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, to Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and more.

At the Surat facility, VinFast is showcasing the highly anticipated VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs—its first models tailored for Indian customers with right-hand-drive configurations. The VF 6 competes in the B-segment, while the VF 7 seats above as a C-segment offering.

Both models have opened for bookings and are expected to launch commercially in early second half of 2025.

Why This Matters: A Strategic Milestone Ahead of Local Manufacturing

The launch of the Surat showroom paves the way for VinFast’s broader India strategy. It comes just days ahead of the planned inauguration of its $2 billion electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, scheduled for August 4, 2025.

Initially set to assemble vehicles via CKD kits with annual capacity of 50,000 units, the plant is later expected to scale to 150,000 units per year.

Between the dealership network, strategic service partnerships (with firms like myTVS, RoadGrid, Global Assure, BatX Energies), and investments in infrastructure and battery recycling, VinFast is laying the foundation for a full-fledged EV ecosystem in India.
