Jeep Grand Wagoneer Patented in India: Design, Powertrain, Features and India Launch Details
Jeep has patented the new-generation Jeep Grand Wagoneer in India, hinting at the brand’s plans for a larger three-row SUV in the future. The patent application does not confirm an India launch, but it puts the Grand Wagoneer on the radar for the Indian market.
The latest-generation SUV is scheduled to arrive in the US later in 2026 or early 2027. It brings a bold new design, a premium three-row cabin and a new range-extender electric powertrain.
The Grand Wagoneer could sit above Jeep’s current Indian lineup, which includes the Compass, Meridian, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Jeep has not yet announced an India launch timeline or pricing for the SUV.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Design
The new Jeep Grand Wagoneer gets a more modern interpretation of the brand’s traditional SUV design. The front features distinctive hammer-shaped LED daytime running lights positioned above the main lighting elements. The signature Jeep grille remains a key part of the design, while the upright nose gives the SUV a commanding road presence.
The side profile follows a slightly boxy design with a long wheelbase and large glass area. Dual-tone alloy wheels add a premium touch, with wheel sizes ranging from 18 to 22 inches depending on the variant. The SUV also features a tall rear section and a modern LED lighting signature.
Two charging or fuel-related flaps on the sides indicate the electrified powertrain. The large dimensions and three-row layout position the Grand Wagoneer as a full-size premium SUV.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Powertrain
The new Grand Wagoneer will introduce a range-extender electric vehicle (REEV) powertrain in the US. It combines a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine with a large 92kWh battery pack and an electric drive system. The petrol engine works as a generator rather than directly powering the wheels.
The system produces a combined 638bhp and 840Nm of torque. Jeep claims a driving range of around 805km, while the SUV can accelerate from 0-96kmph in approximately five seconds.
In a range-extender setup, the engine generates electricity to charge or support the battery, while the electric motor drives the wheels. This approach allows the Grand Wagoneer to offer electric driving with the flexibility of a petrol-powered generator. Jeep has not confirmed whether this powertrain will be offered in India.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Cabin and Features
The Grand Wagoneer gets a premium three-row cabin designed to compete with large luxury SUVs. The dashboard features a multi-screen layout, with three displays dominating the front cabin. This setup gives the driver and passengers access to infotainment, vehicle functions and other connected features.
The SUV also gets two glass roof sections, including a dual-pane panoramic unit. The large cabin and long body provide space for three rows of passengers, while the premium positioning is expected to bring high-quality materials and extensive technology.
Jeep has focused heavily on digital technology in the new Grand Wagoneer. The multiple-screen dashboard gives the cabin a modern appearance while maintaining the SUV’s large and practical interior layout. More India-specific equipment details will become available if Jeep confirms the model for our market.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer India: Launch and Price
Jeep has not announced an India launch date or price for the Grand Wagoneer. The patent only indicates that the design has been protected in India and does not confirm plans for local sales.
If launched, it would sit above the Grand Cherokee and compete with premium three-row SUVs such as the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover.
