Sales of passenger vehicles may increase in the Indian market, Says Toyota

According to Japanese vehicle manufacturer Toyota, The sales of passenger vehicles in the country will increase next year too as 2023 and the highest sales will be of SUV segment vehicles.

Apart from this, sales of mid segment vehicles are also expected to increase. However, small car sales may remain a matter of concern.

Giving information about this, Gulati told PTI, “I think the automobile market is growing and it will continue to grow in a very healthy manner. We are far ahead of the situation where people were saying that the demand for vehicles is low. “We have gone much further in producing vehicles and there has been a surge in sales even during the festive season.”

According to the information, the total sales of passenger vehicles in India will exceed 40 lakh units in the year 2023. In the year 2022, the total number of passenger vehicles was 37.93 lakh units. In 2021, this figure was 30.82 lakh units.

Toyota has recorded a record in sales this year. The company has sold 1.92 lakh vehicles from January to October this year. Earlier in the year 2012, the maximum number of 1.72 lakh vehicles was sold.

What is the company’s plan regarding electric vehicles?

Asked about Toyota’s plans to introduce electric vehicles in India, he said, “We are constantly evaluating the Indian market situation. Our aim is to look at the real objective where we can reduce fuel usage and achieve rapid decarbonization.” “We are bringing electric vehicles to India. In this direction, the company will continue to explore all options, which is most relevant to the infrastructure preparedness and Indian situation.”
