Top 10 Bestselling Cars in July 2026

The Indian cars industry kicked off the second half of 2026 with strong retail momentum. Cumulative sales for the top 10 bestselling passenger vehicles reached 2,00,868 units in July 2026, representing a substantial 37.55% growth compared to the 1,46,029 units recorded in July 2025.

Market leader Maruti Suzuki demonstrated absolute dominance by securing six of the top 10 positions, while Tata Motors claimed two spots, followed by Hyundai and Mahindra with one model each.

Maruti Suzuki Sweeps Top Four Spots

Maruti Suzuki swept the first four positions on the sales chart, led by the Dzire compact sedan. Reclaiming the top spot nationwide, the Dzire dispatched 23,791 units, posting a 13.86% year-on-year increase.

Trailing closely behind was the Wagon R hatchback in second place with 23,338 units, recording a steep 58.65% growth over July 2025. The Ertiga MPV secured third position with 21,606 units (up 30.13%), while the Swift hatchback rounded out Maruti’s top-four sweep by recording 21,538 units (up 51.78%). The Nexa-retailed Baleno premium hatchback also locked in seventh place with 18,241 units.

Utility Vehicles and EVs Drive Growth

SUVs and crossovers continued to capture significant buyer interest, accounting for five of the top 10 models. The Tata Punch (including the Punch EV) emerged as the best-selling SUV and fifth overall with 21,313 units, nearly doubling its volume with a massive 97.62% year-on-year jump.

Maruti’s Fronx crossover secured sixth place with 19,473 units, registering a 51.28% increase. Hyundai’s Creta lineup (including the Creta Electric) took eighth place with 18,088 units, followed by the Tata Nexon range at ninth position with 17,471 units. The Mahindra Scorpio brand (Scorpio Classic and Scorpio-N combined) completed the top 10 with 16,009 units.
